Shaker Sisters are a female led production company based in Stockport. We seek to empower women in the film / TV industry and tell compelling, innovative stories for the female gaze, created by the female gaze.
Our Story So Far...
We met on the set of Kitty's TV show: 'Don't Lick The Walls,' where we bonded over our love of Patti Smith, cocktails and leopard print. We were bored with waiting for opportunities to arise for women in film- so we created them ourselves. Our first short film: 'Penny!' was created with an all female crew. The power, creativity and passion on set was tantalising. We want our stories to have that 'girlhood' feel. We're focused on creating female led comedy, showcasing northern talent and using the backdrop of the North to tell our stories. We discovered a gap in filmmaking for rebellious, loud mouthed women, creating beautiful, female led cinematic comedy. We plan on taking over the world- one funny, beautiful film at a time!

'Penny!'
'24 hours in the life of ‘Penny,’ an aspiring rockstar in a male dominated world. Based on the book: ‘WHAT IF BOWIE WERE A WOMAN?” By Kitty Riggs. It’s a 15 min comedy short that champions female empowerment, rock n roll and the north west. It’s a high paced, energetic exploration into the everyday sexism within the music industry (and the every day world)- think Trainspotting, Drifters and Pistol. Aimed at 18-30 year olds, or anyone who’s had the misfortune of being sung to at the end of their bed during a one night stand! A fun and expressive portrayal of womanhood and trying to survive in your 20s as a creative in an uninspired world...'
